Di Iso Butyl Phthalate (DIBP)
Diisobutyl phthalate is a phthalate ester that is the diester obtained by the formal condensation of the carboxy groups of phthalic acid with two molecules of isobutanol. It has a role as a plasticiser, a teratogenic agent and a PPAR modulator. It is a phthalate ester and a diester. It derives from an isobutanol. DIBP is an odorless plasticizer and has excellent heat and light stability. It is the lowest cost plasticizer for cellulose nitrate. DIBP has lower density and freezing point than DBP (dibutyl phthalate, CAS No. : 84-74-2). It has similar properties as dibutyl phthalate and can be used as a substitute for it.
