Also known as 1,2-propanediol, propylene glycol has a chemical formula of C3H8O2 and a molecular weight of 76.10 g/mol. Industrial-grade propylene glycol is a colorless liquid with a distinctive odor. The company manufactures it using a high-temperature, high-pressure hydrolytic process to obtain a minimum purity level of 99.5 percent.
Brenntag North America sells industrial-grade PG in IBC, drum, and bulk quantities to meet the needs of different manufacturing applications. We can quickly fulfill orders to customers throughout North America.

PROPYLENE GLYCOL APPLICATIONS
PG has many potential uses. Its most important application is as a feedstock in the production of unsaturated polyester resins. In this capacity, it is a component of high-performance reinforced plastic laminates, gel coats, and sheet molding compounds, among other goods.
Manufacturers use PG as a solvent, chemical intermediary, and heat transfer medium. It can be found in commodities such as engine coolants, polyester resins, and latex paints, as well as in airplane deicing fluid, plasticizers, lubricants, and more.
Industrial-grade PG is a component of many commercial paints and varnishes, where it acts as an intermediate, and cleaners and laundry detergents, where it is a stabilizer. For more information on potential applications for industrial grade propylene glycol, contact Brenntag North America.
HANDLING AND STORAGE GUIDELINES
Industrial grade PG has low toxicity and low vapor pressure. It should be stored at ambient temperatures in a closed container away from sources of UV light. When properly stored, it has a shelf life of a year or more. Overheating can lead to accelerated degradation — temperatures should be controlled during use, transport, and storage, and they should not exceed 40 degrees Celsius.
Always wear proper protective clothing and work in a well-ventilated space when handling
