Brenntag Nordic is committed to quality management. We work according to defined processes and responsibilities to provide a smooth and efficient service with focus to always improve.
Brenntag Nordic works in many business segments. To ensure our services to these segments, we have chosen to work according to segment orientated quality management where suitable and authorisation where needed. These are:
HACCP for food production, and food and feedstuff authorisations where required.
Brenntag Nordic has implemented ISO 9001:2015 in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
Our commitment towards environment, health and safety is underlined by voluntary participation in the "Responsible Care Initiative" of the chemical distributors.
An external auditor has made the ESAD assessment at all our sites in the Nordic countries as well as the head quarter in Ballerup.
ISO 14001:2015 - Environmental Management
Brenntag Nordic has chosen to implement and certify an ISO 14001:2015 (first certification in 1998) environmental management system where suitable.
ESAD (the European Single Assessment Document) provides a voluntary assessment system to evaluate the quality, safety and security and environmental performance of chemical distributors.
A single assessment is carried out by independent auditors using a standard questionnaire. The single assessment avoids the need for distributors to undergo multiple assessment by chemical producers. The audit is also used by distributors to check their compliance to the eight guiding principles of Responsible Care.
ESAD is part of SQAS programme; objectivity, neutrality, transparency and free access to the system for the user of the chemical industry. The SQAS distributor / ESAD assessment questionnaire consists of four parts:
Brenntag have had 13 sites in the Nordic region assessed for ESAD and a detailed list for what each site was assessed for can be found in the table below:

Brenntag is committed to providing our partners assurance in the quality and safety of the products we store, distribute and manufacture.
We have always been very proactive in terms of formal validation of safety and quality principles. Internally we have developed a comprehensive Supplier Approval System (SAPRO) requiring mandatory certification, audit reports, production details and product testing for additives and ingredients from non-EU countries, supplied via the Brenntag network in Europe. In addition to a high level of internal scrutiny, we recognise the requirements and benefits of third-party verification relating to our infrastructure and services.
All of Brenntag Nordic’s sites have been assessed for ESAD II as well as a number of quality standards, such as ISO 9001, 14000 and FAMI-QS. The majority of our sites are certified. Our accreditations give customers an even greater confidence in the quality processes we have in place, the training our teams receive, and the commitment to being the custodians of the safety for the ingredients supply chain we operate in.
With tens of thousands of deliveries across the Nordic region every month, it is impossible to underestimate the importance of safety in operations. "Safety First" is a key principle for at Brenntag and our number 1 priority. We work closely with the regulators and welcome their input, to ensure that our SEVESO sites operate to the very highest environmental and safety standards.
