Monoethanolamine is an amine with alcohol and amine characteristics used in detergent, personal care, textile finishing, and wood treating products, as well as oil well and metalworking products for corrosion prevention​​. Also can be used as a cement grinding aid. Building block in the manufacture of triazine based corrosion inhibitors.
