Brenntag Brazil donates 2000 food baskets to communities in Guarulhos

Brenntag (ISIN DE000A1DAHH0), a global leader in chemical distribution, has supported families affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in several cities in Brazil through a donation campaign. Between May and June, food baskets were donated to the cities of Guarulhos and Jundiaí, in the state of São Paulo, in Esteio and Sapucaia do Sul, in Rio Grande do Sul, and Brusque, in Santa Catarina, totaling more than 2000 baskets.

With the participation of Brenntag Brasil employees, and the support of the Municipal Civil Defense, the first 300 basic food and hygiene items were delivered in Guarulhos, at the end of May. The Albor Residents Association, located in Jardim Aricília, received the donations and will now be responsible for distributing the baskets to the families registered at the institution.

Rafael Nascimento, president of the Association, explains that “it is always gratifying to receive the support of large companies like Brenntag, which carry out their social responsibility with such commitment and, in fact, wear the shirt of solidarity. Donations like this are always welcome and have become even more important in challenging scenarios such as the one we have been experiencing. A basic food basket is a month of extra comfort for a family”.

Rafael Ramos, Latin America South Supply Chain Manager, emphasizes that joining efforts from different sectors of society is essential to overcome challenging scenarios such as the current one. “As a global market leader, it is our responsibility to society to support families who have been affected by the current health and economic crisis. We seek to carry out and strengthen actions that can contribute to the communities in the locations where we are present. There is no other way to overcome challenges if it is not through unity”.

This is not the only donation made by Brenntag recently: since the beginning of the Corrente do Bem – an initiative of Brenntag Brasil with its employees to minimize the social impacts caused by the pandemic -, in 2020, Brenntag has already donated about 1 ton of material. prime for Sinai Cimatec Bahia and ITF Chemical for the production of 63 tons of alcohol in gel, destined for the public health network of the State of Bahia; distributed personal care kits to employees working in the operating units; donated more than 1,000 food baskets to families throughout Brazil, through the institutions Lar Mãe Clory, in São Paulo, Fundação Casa Aberta São Leopoldo and Escola Municipal Raio de Sol, in Rio Grande do Sul. 800 food baskets for painters, through an initiative of the Show do Pintor and Paint & Pintura magazines.

According to Ana Elisa Sakiama, CASA Manager (Quality, Health, Safety and Environment) at Brenntag Brasil, actions such as Corrente do Bem reinforce the company's commitment to communities. “Brenntag constantly seeks to contribute to the development of society by taking innovative and sustainable actions. Supporting our communities is part of this commitment”.
