- Brenntag joins the Wissensfabrik – Unternehmen für Deutschland e. V. initiative and, through this cooperation, will provide long-term support for educational projects at high schools and other schools throughout Germany with the aim of inspiring children and young people to take an interest in STEM disciplines
- The initiative complements the company's existing commitment to promoting the next generation
Brenntag, the global market leader in chemicals and ingredients distribution, today announced its new partnership with Wissensfabrik – Unternehmen für Deutschland e. V. The aim of Wissensfabrik and thus of the partnership is to inspire young people with practical and playful teaching materials for STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and to strengthen their educational opportunities. Wissensfabrik is a nationwide network of around 130 German companies from all industries founded in 2005.
With the support of the association, Brenntag aims to counteract the shortage of skilled workers in its own industry. The initiative complements the company's existing commitment to promoting education: In addition to offering various training and trainee programs, Brenntag maintains numerous partnerships with universities and educational institutions worldwide.
Dr. Christian Kohlpaintner, CEO of Brenntag SE: "As a company with over 150 years of scientific and technical expertise, we see it as our responsibility to support young people in their education and to make it easier for them to enter scientific professions. I myself studied chemistry and know from my own experience how important early inspiration and practical experience are for a person's educational path. As part of our collaboration with Wissensfabrik, we are actively contributing our expertise, particularly in chemistry and chemical distribution, to the network."
Brenntag's commitment is both financial and operational. As part of its membership, Brenntag supports the network in carrying out practical and free STEM education projects, workshops, and school visits at schools. The first projects are planned for 2025.
Mathias Haase, CEO of Wissensfabrik: “With Brenntag, Wissensfabrik is gaining a strong new member with deep scientific expertise. We look forward to working together to inspire even more children and young people to take an interest in science and technology! This commitment promotes educational opportunities for young people and strengthens our country's innovative power in the long term.”
