Show casing industrial and food grade lubricants, impressive main suppliers and much more, the 12th to 15th March was an outstanding week for the Lubricants Business Unit at Brenntag. Ernst Fourie, Business Manager for Lubricants, says that “the show was a success with plenty interest shown in Brenntags products due to an expanded product footprint, excellent supply chain distribution and competitive product pricing throughout South Africa.
In a bid to strengthen its presence and capability, Brenntag acquired Multilube in 2011. Multilube is a market leader in the distribution of high-value lubricants, additives, base oils and speciality chemicals. “The acquisition of Multilube by Brenntag is one that has come with significant advantages to customers throughout South Africa” says Fourie.
The first advantage is that an expanded product footprint is guaranteed. The multi-product offering reduces customer costs by having more products from one supplier. The Brenntag - Multisol’s product portfolio features base oils, additives and lubricants. Multisol supplies base oils with a focus on Group III in Africa, whereas Brenntag focusses supply from and in Europe. A critical and significant product in their offering is the Infenium additives.
The Brenntag lubricants offering includes LANXESS, Anderol, Chemours, Krytox, Raj Petro and Petro Canada products. We offer specialized lubricants ranging from fire-resistant hydraulic fluids to synthetic refrigeration lubricants.
Secondly, an enhanced supply chain capability has been attained which ensures timely and cost-effective delivery and availability of the different products. A broader footprint has also been enabled with more stocking points lined up for the opening. This ultimately leads to a much stronger supply chain capability. Multisol’s supply chain in South Africa has established local stocking points to ensure efficiency in reaching their clients.
Lastly and, not be underestimated, the financial strength Brenntag secures and increases supply potential to the clients. With more than 580 locations in 73 countries and a workforce of more than 16,600 employees, Brenntag generated sales of EUR 12.6 billion (USD 14.8 billion) in 2018.
