Brenntag México has been constantly working in maintaining their CASA (Quality, Safety and Environmental) Standards at high performance levels and to stay on the cutting edge during the past several years.
Last December, BVQI certified its Tijuana and Querétaro locations under ISO 9000, ISO 14000 and OHSAS 18000 standards. In addition, its new corporate offices, warehouse, and cross dock in San Martín Obispo in Mexico City were also certified with the ISO 9000 certification.
During the last few years, the Chemical Industry Association (ANIQ) has been emphasizing the importance of having all its members implement Responsible Care practices encompassing its codes. These codes include Process Safety, Occupation Health and Safety, Product Safety, Transportation and Distribution, Pollution Prevention and Control, and Community Protection.
In 2010 a new regulation arose: it is no longer sufficient to maintain a self-diagnosed level but rather to receive external auditing from ANIQ auditors who will visit sites to show evidence of satisfactory performance in the setup of SARI codes. Companies that reach a level higher than 85% obtain Total Responsibility certification.
Brenntag Mexico decided to undergo an ANIQ audit, which found that their levels were satisfactory under the CASA System.
There was a thorough preparation by the teams in the sites for the audits which reflects their high performance level.
The SARI certification was awarded after having conducted a multiple-site audit program that included Mexico City, Querétaro and Tijuana in mid March 2010.
The certification was awarded in a ceremony held in ANIQ’s Regular LI Assembly meeting in the Nikko Hotel’s Constellation Room in which the major players of the Mexican chemical industry were in attendance.
During the event, other companies were honored with Responsible Care achievements. These include DOW and BASF, as manufacturers.

Brenntag Mexico, with ANIQ’s support, hopes to be an example for other members, who will hopefully join forces in the implementation of Responsible Care, given the commitment that we all hold throughout the supply chain business and our community.
