What are fertilizers?
Modern chemical fertilizers include one or more of the three macronutrient elements most important to plant nutrition: nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium.

- Aids in photosynthesis and food formation
- Reduces respiration, preventing energy loss
- Enhances translocation of sugars and starch
- Produces grain rich in starch

- Builds cellulosic fibers in plant
- Helps retard crop diseases
Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Potassium are some of the most common micronutrients needed in Agriculture today. Another common micronutrient is Sulfur.
The function of Sulfur (S):
- Increases plant production of more and higher quality protein
- Helps reduce the buildup of nitrates and non-protein nitrogen within the plant
- Improves photosynthesis by increasing chlorophyll content of plants
- Aids in the synthesis and function of enzymes and vitamins within the plant.
- Improves soil structure and increases water infiltration
Aids in the decomposition of crop residue fertilizers, used since the start of agriculture, are applied to agricultural fields to supplement required elements found naturally in soil.
