Water hygiene is essential for plant propagation. Agro-bacteria, including root mat, is recognised by growers as one of the key factors in restricting yield and revenue value.
Root mat disease is an increasing problem in the UK and Europe as a whole, estimated to be prevalent in over 80% of nurseries. The disease causes excessive vegetative growth, reduced fruit size and quality, whilst increasing the risk of secondary root infections. Root mat can also spread quite readily across a nursery to healthy young plants.
Financial impact of root mat is notable. Crop losses are estimated to be well in excess of 10% with extra labour and material costs, not to mention reduced revenue due to poorer yield, produce specification and wastage.
Nothing will completely remove the disease, however it has been shown that Clorious2 - clean, safe and ready to use Chlorine Dioxide - helps prevent disease, reduce bacterial growth and more importantly help to increase yield. To apply, simply dose Clorious2 at the recommended trace concentration to the irrigation system
