Brand owners had one year to label any product that contains a DEA amide or an MEA amide with a Clear and Reasonable Warning that it contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer.
Since this date, severe penalties are to be incurred by any violator, which has seen some brand owners based globally selling into the State of California facing these penalties. But while options to either remove their products from sale or add the label to their products are unfavourable to many, another option to replace the DEA/MEA products for amide-free alternatives is one Brenntag can help with.
Colonial Chemical, Inc. have a range of DIPA amides for the Personal Care industry called Cola Liquid, which can be used to replace DEA amides like-for-like (1:1 replacements). Cola Liquids are a group of next-generation liquid non-ionic surfactants used in applications, such as shampoos and hand soaps, and have proven a successful choice to many well-known brands. Benefits of these drop-in replacement products include great foam height boosting and retention, easy formulating and processing as well as viscosity control.
