Two new highly concentrated and fast available energy supplements designed to prevent ketosis and improve milk yield in newly calved dairy cows have been launched by Brenntag.
Neubalac Dry comprises 67% glycol content in the form of propylene glycol on a highly absorptive carrier, whilst Neubalac G Dry comprises 67% glycerine and is recommended for high yielding cows.
Independent trials among dairy cows in their first four weeks of lactation have been conducted. Brenntag Animal Nutrition Product Manager, Amy Sisson, comments: “During the pre/post calving period cows are prone to metabolic diseases in particular ketosis as they adapt to the sudden change of metabolism and stress connected with birth and the onset of lactation. Introducing Neubalac Dry or Neubalac G Dry can bridge that gap, both being sources of highly concentrated and easily absorbable energy which have been proven to minimize the risk of ketosis, improve yield performance and maintain body condition. Glycol is noted for improving digestibility and reducing workload on the liver in the post calving period.
Neubalac Dry and Neubalac G Dry are available in powder form for use as an additive on in TMR diets. Dosage is recommended two weeks pre and two to four weeks post calving.
