Our History
Brenntag UK & Ireland's history dates back to 1841 tracing its history back to Glasgow based Richard Smith Chemicals. There were many acquisition over the next two decades, until in 2001, the company became Albion Chemicals. The next major turning point was in June 2006, which saw the acquisition of Albion Chemicals by the global Brenntag Group - although the company continued to operate under its existing 'Albion' brand. 2009 symbolised a new chapter for our company, as we fully embraced the name and brand of our parent company to become Brenntag UK & Ireland.
