Due to the change in legislation, the rules on the sale of ammonia water have changed.
The design of usuall plastic (composite) IBC containers is dimensioned by a pressure test for the vapor pressure of the conveyed substance at a temperature up to 50°C and a corresponding pressure of 115 kPa. These conditions correspond to the concentration of the ammoniacal water transported up to a maximum of 20.5%.
Existing transport 25% ammonia has allowed the exemption from the ADR Agreement on the Transport of Dangerous Substances. The current ADR of the Agreement no longer applies this exception, so 25% of ammonia water can only be transported in 200L plastic barrels or 60L canisters.
