Ammonium persulfate is an inorganic compound. It is a white salt that is highly soluble in water. It is a strong oxidizing agent that is used in polymer chemistry, as an etchant, and as a cleaning and bleaching agent e.g. for making hair bleaches for the cosmetics industry. It is used for the production of dyes, for oil and gas exploration (mine fracturing), for the decolorisation, bleaching, and deodorisation of cooking oils and as a wheat ripener.
