Brenntag does not agree with decision of French Competition Authority
Brenntag SA, a French subsidiary of Brenntag AG which represented about 4% of the Group’s sales in 2012, has been informed today by the French Competition Authority (FCA) of the fine of EUR 48 million imposed on Brenntag SA jointly with a further party regarding infringements to competition law, from 1998 to 2005 in France. Brenntag SA does not agree with the legal qualification of the facts and the calculation of the fine of the FCA and will consider an appeal.
Brenntag France applied for leniency in 2006 and has actively contributed to the investigation and provided all information and proofs working closely together with the FCA regarding the clarification of the facts.
Brenntag Group is committed to free competition and does not tolerate any infringements of antitrust law. Brenntag regularly conducts substantial training programs and has comprehensive policies in place in order to strengthen this commitment.
