Manila 24.5.2016 - Brenntag, the global market leader in chemical distribution, opened its new distribution facility in San Pedro, Laguna close to the Philippine capital Manila, to support the continued growth of Brenntag Philippines. The facility provides a bigger storage capacity and upgrades the logistic capabilities as the new warehouse replaces its two previous warehouses in Manila. It will allow Brenntag to improve and expand value-added customer support throughout the supply chain, from purchase and formulation through to packaging and logistics.
At the inauguration of the new site, Knud Mohr, COO of Brenntag Asia Pacific, said: “This facility is part of our 2020 Vision. By expanding our local presence, we are making an investment to better serve our customers with advanced support and meet growing market demand. It will also strengthen our presence in the region. The warehouse is designed so that it allows us to continue a significant growth in the Philippines in the coming years, while at the same time meeting our strict compliance to safety and health”.
“This new facility will enable us to live our “ConnectingChemistry” vision by allowing us to offer added value services for both customers and suppliers. The new facility will further improve Brenntag’s ability to provide a number of added value services including storage, re-packing, mixing and blending as well as delivery and other supply chain solutions,” said Christian Frimann, Regional President, Brenntag South East Asia.
The new facility stands on approx. 12,300 m² of land and has 8,750 m² of warehouse space. With its present partial racking it has a storage capacity of 5,200 pallets positions. When fully racked, the capacity can go up to 7,950 pallet positions. Four application laboratories are available for the use of Food, Pharma, Personal Care & Cleaning, Coatings & Water Treatment and a back-up laboratory for future needs of other business units. Furthermore it has five temperature and humidity controlled rooms for Food and Pharma products as well as non-food products. With its seven warehouse units it segregates materials by hazard classification. There are dedicated hazardous materials warehouse units with specific rooms for Flammables, Oxidizers and Toxic/Harmful products in fire rated panels and doors. The entire facility is equipped with a Fire Suppression System appropriate for the fire hazard of the products in each unit.
Like all of Brenntag’s facilities, Brenntag’s new Manila logistic center complies with local and international safety and environmental regulations. Currently, Brenntag Philippines holds ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications. Latest ISO 9001: 2008 re-certification audit was already at this new warehouse.
