Fifth Annual Essential2®Life 5K in Liberty State Park in Jersey City

Presented by Regional Member Companies of the American Chemistry Council and the

Chemistry Council of New Jersey to Benefit the American Red Cross

Jersey City, NJ April 1, 2011- This year marks the 5th year of the Essential2®Life 5K Race to highlight the importance of chemistry in our everyday life, as well as its contribution to the overall health of the economy. The race will include a 5K Run, a 3K Walk and e2 Kids Sprints for children ages two through eleven. Since the race inception in 2007, it has raised over $85,000 to benefit the local chapters of American Red Cross.

“The Essential2Life 5K Race is an exciting event for runners and walkers alike. We are grateful to the member companies of the American Chemistry Council and Chemistry Council of New Jersey for making the American Red Cross the recipient of the proceeds from the event,” noted Ray B. Shepherd, CEO of the American Red Cross of Northern New Jersey.

We are proud to have an organization dedicated to emergency preparedness and response like the American Red Cross as the beneficiary of the race.”

The chemistry industry in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Delaware which employ over 160,000 individuals and contribute billions to the regional economy have joined together to plan the race. The race has been accepted as an official event celebrating the International Year of Chemistry.

Major sponsor companies, in addition to Brenntag the chair of the 2011 event, are: BASF, Church & Dwight, Croda, Dow, Elemica, Evonik Degussa, Honeywell, Johnson Matthey, Konica Minolta, PQ, Rhodia, Sika and Wacker.

Place: CRRNJ Terminal – Liberty State Park, Jersey City, NJ
Registration: Begins at 7:45 – Race begins at 9:30 AM
Price: Adults (12 and older) - $25 Children (11 and under) - $5
