Responsible Care
Responsible Care: Responsibility for Humankind and the Environment
With its Responsible Care initiative, the chemical industrie, the International Council of Trade associations (ICCTA) and the German Association of Chemical Wholesalers (Verband Chemiehandel e.V., VCH) have pledged their responsibility to protect humankind and the environment we live in. Brenntag is one of the companies that has participated on a voluntary basis from the outset - since 1997 - in the initiative called "Responsible Care - Acting Responsibly in Chemicals Distribution".
Responsible Care lays down guidelines and structures for environmentally relevant and future-safe practices in six areas:
- Product responsibility
- Plant safety
- Occupational safety and health
- Comprehensive environmental protection (air, water, soil, raw materials, waste)
- Transport safety
- Dissemination of information to the public
In the Responsible Care initiative, participating companies must draw up an annual status report on the environmentally relevant data - the so-called indices of performance - and make a commitment to the continuous improvement of these indices. Brenntag is fully conscious of this commitment; and of the fact that it can do even better - in the provision of services, in the optimization of company routines and naturally also in the field of environmental protection and health safety. This is something we will continue to work on: each and every day.
