Chemical Data

Chemical Data - Sound and Systematic

SAP - these letters stand for a comprehensive database that creates the necessary conditions for the precision control of business processes. Brenntag uses SAP R/3 as a central "enterprise resource planning" system and began to integrate all safety-, health- and environment-related data in the SAP system in 2003. To this end, the "EH&S" module" (Environment, Health & Safety) has been installed at the company's headquarters and in the national subsidiaries which are using SAP.

All data that are of relevance to health and work safety and environmental protection are available at the press of a key throughout the company. The data cover the safety provisions for around 15,000 chemicals that belong to the Brenntag portfolio as well as key individual aspects like the handling of hazardous goods and waste management. All data are available at the click of the mouse - such as hazard categories and the precautionary measures that need to be taken when handling the various chemicals.

The implementation of the EH&S module involved a great deal of work. But it was all worthwhile, as (in addition to providing chemical-specific data) it enables the company to implement all changes in European legislation simultaneously in the various countries and ensures that employees have access to the relevant information. SAP EH&S therefore plays an essential role in systematic management at Brenntag.
