Brenntag has established an international team which successfully pursues the systematic development of sustainability at Brenntag. The Board of Management and regional top management support the activities of this sustainability committee.
In addition, Brenntag Group’s Corporate Development department now has a sustainability coordinator who manages and promotes global projects and initiatives and who maintains a dialogue with those line managers at Group level and in Brenntag’s regions.

EcoVadis is a leading provider of sustainability assessments. The company’s sustainability performance is evaluated in terms of four different categories: environment, labor practices, fair business practices and sustainable procurement. EcoVadis evaluates approx. 6,000 companies every year in this way, in around 150 different industrial sectors in 95 countries. Around 100 multinational companies including use EcoVadis assessments to control and evaluate their suppliers’ sustainability performance.
Brenntag belongs to top 1% of companies assessed
Brenntag already has undergone several EcoVadis assessments. In its October 2016 assessment, Brenntag Group was awarded 66 points and thereby achieved gold status (Gold Recognition Level). The result means that Brenntag is significantly above average (42,2 in October 2016) in the industrial sector in which EcoVadis categorizes the company. This performance puts Brenntag in the top 1% of companies assessed in this industrial sector, and in the top 2% of companies assessed by EcoVadis in all categories (as of October 2016).

Brenntag is keen to achieve further scoring improvements. Moreover, as part of its TfS membership, Brenntag encourages its own suppliers to undergo an EcoVadis self-assessment.
