Effective: March 1, 2009
The Explosives Regulatory Division of Natural Resources Canada has recently expanded their mandate to protect against diversion for criminal / terrorist purposes. Through the Public Safety Act C-7, controls have been imposed on the distribution and sale of designated products to ensure that restricted products have adequate authorizations in place to prevent the unintended sale and diversion of chemical goods to illicit organizations or individuals.
These new requirements, known as Restricted Component Regulations, administered by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), Explosives Regulatory Division, will directly impact the sale of these designated materials in Canada. Any restricted product that is purchased from Brenntag Canada must be registered and approved by Brenntag, specific to the location to which it is sold, and the designated end-use application. These regulations are effective as of March 1, 2009.
Information is available here to assist in the understanding and application of these new regulatory requirements.
