A highly purified and potent saponin adjuvant
QS-21 is a specific fraction of triterpenoid saponin molecules extracted from the bark of the South American tree, Quillaja saponaria Molina. QS-21 has a molecular weight of 1990.14 Daltons and a formula of C92 H148O46. The fraction was originally isolated and characterized by Dr. Charlotte Kensil in 1986.
Vaccines containing QS-21 have been succesfully tested in humans and are expected to soon reach the market.
Biosector's target is to develop QS-21 products in a high quality standard which is suitable for use in human vaccines.
Samples of QS-21 are expected to be made available for testing during 2018.
